19A: Idea Napkin No. 2

1) You. My name is Anisha Patel and honestly, my product will give students one less thing to complain about. I have personally experienced this issue and it brings me no joy to drive an extra 15 minutes just to ensure I have parking on campus. And it sucks extra for students who live on campus and have to park a mile downhill from their dorm, causing them to carry bags of groceries back up to their dorm (and yes, there is emphasis on downhill). I don't want myself, or others, to have this tiny issue because such a crisis during our 4 years in college when we have more important issues to focus on.

2) What are you offering to customers? I am offering an app that will let students know where the best, available parking is based on the location they would like to arrive at.

3) Who are you offering it to? I am offering this app to students. My main goal is the University of Florida population, but then expand it to other universities and colleges as the app becomes widely popular.

4) Why do they care? I said it in my first idea napkin and I'll say it again. Every single college student complains about parking. Every. Single. One (again, emphasis on 'every single one'). And as colleges grow and make space to accommodate, the issue grows with it.

5) What are your core competencies? I am able to focus on the core issue in an efficient manner. I can also have a 'zone' mindset, where I will have tunnel vision when I am very focused on an assignment or project that needs to get done. I also have good intuition, which came in handy for this product because this is something that every higher-level student has an issue with, but I was able to actually recognize and tackle the issue. I also try to make my blog posts a bit more light-hearted so my peers can find my posts amusing, yet understanding and relatable for the product I'm creating.

Overall, this issue quite complicated for numerous reasons and I've noticed that just within the umbrella of this issue, students tend to complain that they never know which area will have parking or not. Because these elements fit well together, I am able to create a simple and user-friendly solution.

Feedback Memo: According to my feedback, I needed to add more details to my core competencies. It also seemed like I needed to develop the "You" portion of this assignment a bit more, so I did that as well.

  1. Hey Anisha,
I think you did a great job of organizing your project into these 5 points. I think answering these questions really helped me be accountable for knowing everything about my service. I totally agree with you that everyone complains about parking. In fact, parking at UF has such a bad reputation for parking that my parents didn't even let me bring my car up for the first semester. I think this app would be amazing and your core competencies seem like they would really support you in the app's development. You also did a great job of accepting the feedback you got and using it constructively.

  2. Hey Anisha,
You did a great job of using your feedback to help enhance certain areas of your idea napkin, which I think is awesome. The interest you have in this issue with parking I think will really help you to succeed in solving this complex issue that most college students face - not only at UF but at universities around the country. Having experienced the issue yourself definitely gives you some advantage when it comes to solving this.
