11A: Idea Napkin No. 1
*I slightly changed my product from an electronic billboard to an app after some suggestions from my peers, so thank you to those who gave the suggestion :)*
1) You. My name is Anisha Patel and I see this app as a way to make a stressful life a little less stressful. This past year was the first year I lived off campus and had a car in Gainesville, and I experienced first-hand the issue with parking. And I complained about it, every single time I had to drive my car to campus. So this app would fit in my lifestyle perfectly because I don't have to worry about driving around for 15-20 minutes and worry about timing out the rush hour and the drive to and from my apartment.

2) What are you offering to customers? I'm offering an app that will accurately post the number of parking spots available for drivers in each parking lot/garage on college campuses.
3) Who are you offering it to? I'm offering this to universities and students who believe parking is an issue on campus, especially since it is a common complaint among students.
4) Why do they care? Every college student complains about parking. Every. Single. One. And it's a big issue universities always deal with every year as they grow and build plans for improvement and space, so this will help ease some issues with parking.
5) What are your core competencies?
Focusing on the issue in an efficient manner.
Focusing on the issue in an efficient manner.
These elements fit together well because the issue is simple but the evaluation is complicated. So I made the solution simple and easily accessible to all. I could see this as a success.
I always appreciate how concise your style of writing is, and it fits the format of this assignment perfectly. I have to comment on how wonderful it is to see that you were a good sport about considering the comments from your peers. This idea is good and makes more practical sense with the adjustments that you have made in turning the solution into an app rather than an electronic billboard. I must add that I think you do yourself an injustice by limiting your core competencies to “focusing on the issue in an efficient manner.” Unless I’m reading into this step incorrectly, I would argue that one of your major core competencies is good intuition of the obvious yet often overlooked issues. You were the only on in the group that noticed, and tackled, a need that I think all of our group members have, yet missed. Good job on this.
ReplyDeleteHey Anisha, I like this idea and wish it was more common for parking lots to have an application like this. I almost wonder why the University would not have already done this. It seems like a system that would be easy and relatively cheap to implement. I do not have to deal with this because I have always lived close enough to campus that I can walk or bike, but have rode with friends who end up having to park fairly far from most of campus to find a spot. I think switching from a billboard to an app is a much better way of giving students parking information, good job adapting to suggestions.
ReplyDeleteHi Anisha!
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate the way you brought your own experience to the situation. I also think that changing this product from a billboard to an app provides so much more for way less of a cost. Additionally, I am interested in finding out more about what makes you fit for the development of this product. Other than personal experience and efficiency, what else do you offer? Just from your writing alone, I can already tell that you are the right person for the job.
